make your own: cleansing tea

Since I've banished myself from the coffee pot this month, I've become pretty fond of teas.  That said, I like a complicated cup of tea.  Most of the time the tea I drink ends up having five or six different kinds of teas in it. I decided to simplify things and show you my methods!  This recipe is for a very basic, but effective, cleansing tea.  You can use this tea to support the liver and to help cleanse the blood (however always check with your doctor before adding any herbs to your diet).

Here's what you'll need:

coffee filters (1 filter makes two tea bags)
herbs
a spoon
a sewing machine

For your herbal combination you will need equal parts of dandelion root, red clover blossoms and burdock root.  These herbs are all traditional cleansing herbs and help support several systems of the body.  I've been drinking this tea for a while now and I love it!  You can also add ashwaganda root to the mix if you'd like.  Ashwaganda root will help the body to adapt to stress, which is also taxing on the liver.  If you are a high strung person or tend to have a lot of anxiety, ashwaganda might really help you.

To make the tea bags, simply fold a coffee filter in half and stitch up the center.  Cut the filter in half along the stitches you've just made.  Sew up the other vertical side.  Fill the tea bag and then fold the top down and sew along it.  Done!

This is a great tea to drink once a day to keep things in tip top shape.  I've found I'm starting to like drinking tea so much that I don't miss coffee (although, I'm not sure how long that will last!).   Hope you're all having a great Monday!
